Chelsey Jennings, a 33-year-old woman from Appleton, Wisconsin, tragically passed away following a fatal three-vehicle crash on I-41 in Appleton.

 The accident, which occurred around 6:25 p.m. near the Richmond Street on-ramp, involved multiple vehicles, with one crashing into a ditch.

Jennings, who sustained severe injuries, was taken to the hospital but unfortunately died three days later. 

The incident was caused by a Kaukauna man, Bailey Laux, who admitted to texting with his girlfriend while driving. 

Laux was distracted, failed to notice the slowing traffic ahead, and struck Jennings' vehicle at high speed. 

Investigations revealed that he was driving at 78 mph without applying the brakes before the crash. 

Surveillance footage and eyewitness accounts confirmed his failure to slow down as traffic ahead came to a stop.

Laux is now facing serious charges, and the community is mourning the untimely death of Jennings, a preventable tragedy that underscores the dangers of distracted driving.
