The Loughinisland GAC community is deeply heartbroken following the untimely passing of Clare Afshar, the beloved mother of 14-year-old player Lucy Gibney. 

Clare’s passing has left an immense void in the hearts of her family, friends, and the tight-knit Loughinisland community, where she was cherished not only as a devoted mother but also as a kind and warm-hearted presence whose impact was felt by many.

 

Clare was a dedicated and loving mother who was fiercely proud of her daughter Lucy, a rising star within the Loughinisland GAC youth team. 

Her unwavering support for Lucy’s passion for Gaelic football was evident in the many hours she spent cheering from the sidelines, often seen offering words of encouragement to the players and parents alike. 

Clare’s commitment to her family, especially her daughter, was at the center of her life, and her love and devotion will forever be remembered by those who knew her.

The entire Loughinisland GAC family is mourning the loss of Clare, who was not only a pillar of strength for her daughter but also an active and supportive figure within the club. 

She was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether it was assisting with team events or simply being there to offer her kindness and friendship to other parents and players. 

Her genuine spirit and infectious warmth made her an integral part of the GAC community, and her absence will be deeply felt by everyone whose lives she touched.
