Lee Mauras , a talented wrestler from Clackamas Community College, was tragically shot and killed in Portland, Oregon, on October 6, 2024.
Mauras, originally from Hempstead, New York, was just 22 years old and had moved to Portland to continue his wrestling career.
He was preparing to compete in the upcoming season at Clackamas Community College.
Mauras was a standout athlete, having earned numerous accolades during his high school years.
He was a four-time Nassau County medalist, winning titles at both Freeport and Hempstead High Schools, and had also represented Puerto Rico in the Senior Greco-Roman Pan-American Championships.
His wrestling success and dedication to the sport made him a well-known figure in the wrestling community.
Mauras’ death has left his family and friends devastated, particularly his young son, whom he was a devoted father to.
In the wake of his tragic passing, a GoFundMe campaign was launched to help the family cover legal and travel expenses as they seek justice for his untimely death.
The police have not yet made any arrests or speculated on the motive behind the shooting.
