Brian "Rat" Ratasiewicz , a beloved baseball coach and staff member at St. Mark's High School in Wilmington, Delaware, tragically passed away at the age of 49.

Known affectionately as "Rat," he had a significant impact on the students and the community at St. Mark's. He spent his last day helping at the school's Open House event and later enjoying a Phillies game, reflecting his love for both baseball and the St. Mark's family.
Ratasiewicz, an alumnus of Delcastle Technical High School, was a long-serving coach at St. Mark's, mentoring countless students through his involvement with the baseball team and other school activities.

His colleagues and students deeply appreciated his contributions, with Michael Williams, a fellow teacher, describing him as a "mentor, coach, family man, and dear friend."

His legacy was not just his knowledge of baseball but the deep personal relationships he built, especially with the kids he coached.

Ratasiewicz had also recently joined the school's Student Services team, which he considered his "dream job," allowing him to further extend his positive influence.

Brian's sudden death is a great loss for the St. Mark’s community, and tributes have poured in from those who knew him.

He was remembered for his energy, commitment, and the joy he brought to the students and faculty.

His impact went beyond the baseball diamond, as he was also a prominent announcer at many school events, further cementing his place as the "voice of St. Mark's." His death leaves a void in the community, but his influence will be felt for years to come.
